The GOOS Scientific and Technical Advisory Panels

 

In accordance with the module approach for implementing GOOS, the following Scientific and Technical Advisory Panels have been established:

The Ocean Observations Panel for Climate (OOPC)

The Health of the Ocean Panel (HOTO) [superseded by COOP]

The Living Marine Resources Panel ( LMR) [superseded by COOP]

The Coastal Panel (CP) [superseded by COOP]

The Coastal Ocean Observations Panel (COOP)

They are charged with sorting out the scientific and technical design issues that bear on the implementation of the observing system. They report to the GOOS Steering Committee.

In addition, the GSC established, at its 2nd session (Beijing, April 1999), a new

Capacity Building Panel (capa_b).

I-GOOS approved this development at its 4th session (Paris, June 1999).
