What is
Yellow Pages?
Yellow Pages is a group of databases designed to
provide strategic information on the human, institutional and
infrastructure resources available in the IOCARIBE Region for ocean
and coastal scientific education, research and related services. It
is an important component of the "Information Management and
Networking System" of IOCARIBE.
The information contained in the IOCARIBE Yellow
Pages is a reflection of the actual capacity and potential of the
Region to produce information and knowledge about its marine and
coastal areas. It allows us to coordinate and rationalize the
resources and funds invested for this purpose in the Wider Caribbean
Region.
The information contained in Yellow Pages will be
useful to end-users, administrators, industry, private sector,
general public, scientists, and educators. It will also find useful
application in planning and evaluating capacity building programmes
and in the management of coastal and marine affairs.
Yellow Pages does not provide scientific
information or data, but points the way to obtaining it. That is
done by another part of the IOCARIBE "Information Management and
Networking System" assigned to specialized scientific nodes, located
usually in the Research and Education "Units" in IOCARIBE Member
States.
Yellow Pages has been developed based on the
marketing and brokerage slogan I "I know who needs what you have and
I know who has what you need".
