The IOC's regional subsidiary bodies (sub-commissions and regional committees)

The IOC's regional subsidiary bodies are responsible for the promotion, development and co-ordination of the Commission's marine scientific research programmes, the ocean services, and related activities, including TEMA (training, education and mutual assistance), in their respective regions. In establishing their programmes, they take into account the specific interests and needs of the member States in the region.
