The is the third annual conference of IGCP 396 following the inaugural meeting in Sydney
and the second annual meeting in Durham. The five day conference will consist of oral and
poster sessions, a 1-day workshop aimed at training, business meetings and excursions.

Tentative programme
October 25, 1998: Arrival in Goa; Registration
October 26, 1998: Registration; Business meeting and scientific sessions
October 27, 1998: Scientific sessions
October 28, 1998: Goa coast excursion
October 29, 1998: 1-day workshop
October 30, 1998: Scientific sessions and business meeting
October 31, 1998: Optional excursion to examine archaeological sites
Registration
Foreign delegates: Registration fee: US $ 125 (up to July
31, 1998)
US $ 150 (after July 31, 1998)
Indian delegates: Registration fee: Rs. 1000 (up to July 31,
1998)
Rs. 1200 (after July 31, 1998)
Registration fee covers:
(1) Participation at scientific sessions, business meetings, workshop and
the Goa coast excursion.
(2) Conference materials including a copy of the abstracts.
(3) Conference dinner, lunches and tea/coffee during breaks.
Accommodation
Full details on accommodation arrangements will be provided in the Second Circular on
March 31, 1998. Charges are expected to range from US $30 to 125 per night (single/double
occupancy), depending on the class of hotels. Participants must pay one day's
accommodation charges in advance together with the registration fee and settle the balance
during checkout. Due to heavy tourist rush during the period, it is advisable to confirm
accommodation requirement well in advance.
Excursions
(1) 1-day field excursion to the coast of Goa on October 28, 1998. The cost of this
excursion is included in the registration fees.
(2) 1-day optional excursion to archaeological sites including the Basilica of St. Francis
Xavier on October 31, 1998. The cost of this excursion is US $15 for foreign delegates and
Rs. 250 for Indian delegates.

Corporate bodies as well as government departments / agencies are welcome to sponsor
the IGCP 396 3rd Annual Conference. If interested, please check the box on the preliminary

IGCP 396 funding
Some funding is expected to be available to assist foreign participants from developing
countries to attend. Please apply to the project co-leaders (Dr. W.W.S. Yim or Prof.
P.J. Davies) together with a copy of the abstract before July 31, 1998.
Information on Goa
Details on Goa including weather, transport and the National Institute of Oceanography
will be provided in the Second Circular.
