5th International Conference on Cohesive Sediment Transport

- INTERCOH 98

26-30 May 1998, Ansan, Korea

Invitation

"On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, you are cordially invited to attend the fifth International Conference on Cohesive Sediment Transport (INTERCOH'98) which will take place from May 26th to 30th 1998 in Ansan, Korea. The purpose of this conference is to bring together scientists, engineers and other interested parties from universities, research institutions, industry and environmental agencies for their mutual benefit. This conference is intended to discuss, promote and advance research in the area of cohesive sediment transport and to encourage the exchange of views, experiences and perspectives in a broad sense. The conference series was begun in 1984 by Professor A. J. Mehta of University of Florida, USA. Last conference in 1994, INTERCOH'94 was held in Wallingford, UK. The technical program includes invited lectures and oral, as . well as poster presentations from leading world experts in the area of cohesive sediment transport. We look forward to welcoming you to INTERCOH'98."

  • 1. Processes of fine-grained sediment transport
  • 2. Dynamics and stability of muddy coasts
  • 3. Field monitoring and remote sensing of suspended sediments
  • 4. Cohesive sediment transport modeling
  • 5. Innovative engineering solutions for sedimentation

Call for Papers and Submission

The authors of both invited and contributed papers are asked to submit extended(2-3 pages, single-spaced) abstracts. The abstracts of contributed papers must be received not later than November 30, 1997. The abstract, including title, author's name(s) and affiliation(s), should be typewritten in English and submitted through e-mail or air mail.

Abstracts should provide a brief summary of objectives, methods, and especially results obtained.

Field Trip

A technical field trip will be offered by Local Organizing Committee. The all-day tour to the western coastal area of Korea, abundant with cohesive sediments and large tidal flat including Incheon Port and International Airport construction site of new dimension in the tidal flat, will provide an opportunity to visit points of interest for the participants.

Conference Venue

The conference will be held at Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute(KORDI), Ansan, Korea. Ansan is located in the western coastal area nearby Seoul (about one hour by subway from downtown Seoul).
