Free delegate registration No admission fees
A hallmark of the OI series in Brighton is that there are no admission fees and no conference delegate fees. This unique "no-fee" policy adds much to the strength of the whole event. It encourages as many visitors as possible to attend whichever conference presentations may interest them, from their own or from other disciplines and so it greatly enhances the cross-fertilisation of ideas between the many different specialist areas that comprise Oceanology International.
Message from the Conference Chairman
"As we celebrate The Year of the Oceans, it is opportune for the Oceanology International 98 Conference to look beyond technology to the social and economic benefits we gain from the oceans. Sponsors, whether in industry or government, are looking for increased cost effectiveness, for a quantifiable return on investment, in ever shortening timescales. Yet in contrast, much of the research needed to understand and predict the ocean can only be done with long term programmes that may last a decade or more. How do we resolve these conflicts? How can we anticipate future needs and future trends such that partnerships and investment commit to the long term? Whilst it is clear that the Oceans have an impact on all our lives, it is now time to raise the impact of Oceanography on our society."
