Swimming Marathon-Event

In a few words...

JOG PROMOTION is promoting a swimming-marathon for the 19th of August, 1998 between Denmark and Germany.  A handicapped woman will cross the Channel "Fehmarnbelt" between Denmark and the island Fehmarn of Germany, in the Baltic Sea.  This event, a crossing of nearly 50 kilometers, will be broadcast on television throughout South America as an International Year of the Oceans activity.

The event is listed in the official German calendar, which can be viewed at http://www.bsh.de .  The German name for the event is: "Beltquerung" Schwimmarathon Rodby-Burg auf Fehmarn.
