* Background
The project is highlighted by common perception of the highest importance of the Ocean and its relation with the Man for a stable development of our civilization, for the prosperity and the very survival of the Mankind.
Therefore, the Encyclopaedia will be equally guided by several concepts, such as scientific, cognitive, environmental and humanitarian.
* Objectives
The Encyclopaedia is deemed to embrace the contribution of practically all modern civilizations and societies to the opening up of the World Ocean.
One of the key subjects of the project is the Pacific and adjacent areas - a crossroads of scientific and economic interests of the two supercontinents, Eurasia and America.
