Latest updates on the Ocean Data Information System and the OceanInfoHub Project

During the week of 22 August 2022, the First IODE Steering Group meeting for the Ocean Data Information System and the Third IODE Steering Group meeting for the Ocean Infohub Project took place at the UNESCO/IOC Project Office for IODE in Oostende, Belgium. 30 participants contributed to these hybrid meetings. The first IODE Steering Group meeting for the Ocean Data Information System (ODIS) discussed the requirements, concerns, expectations, and recommendations of the project. At the end of the meeting, Mr Pier Luigi Buttigieg was elected as chair for the inter-sessional period. We thank Mr Buttigieg for his contribution towards the project and are looking forward to the continuous cooperation.

The purpose of the third IODE Steering Group meeting for the Ocean Infohub Project (OIH) was to provide a comprehensive overview of progress on the work plan over the past 11 months, and to get feedback on plans for the next 18 months of the project. Each pilot region (Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Pacific Small Islands Developing States) gave a presentation on their deliverables and objectives and presented their plan for end user engagement. The meeting concluded with the re-election of Mr Harisson Ong’anda as chair for the inter-sessional period.
